Last night Mercedes-Benz dropped the camo and unveiled the new Mercedes AMG GT Roadster in full glory. What that did was immediately making the regular AMG GT and high-performance both pointless. From now on the Roadster is the only variant of the AMG GT anybody wants.

Just like the regular version, the 2017 Mercedes AMG GT Roadster comes in two variants. The base model gets normal looks, that is to say the familiar design of the AMG GT hardtop only with a fabric soft top, with the 476 hp engine, while the AMG GT C Roadster comes with the engine and design elements of the souped-up GT R, i.e. larger bumpers and fenders and a 557 horsepower 4.0 liter bi-turbo V8.

The choice here might be obvious as to which Mercedes AMG GT Roadster you should pick, especially as the C also comes with AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension, active rear axle steering and the electronically controlled rear axle locking differential. But some may not like the overly ambitious look of the GT C which is frankly a bit too showoff-y at places, especially round the front.

But whichever variant you go for, with the Mercedes AMG GT Roadster you get a superb sports car that has all the goodness of the hardtop plus the fun of a folding fabric roof. You also get a refined interior featuring a nappa leather interior and AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/DINAMICA microfiber, and even a new RACE mode in the transmission. Another highlight is the exclusive Burmester high-end surround sound system with Externed Coupled Subwoofer (ECS).
