Car makers seem have suddenly become interested in the toy car market. We hadn’t recovered from hearing about McLaren’s P1 toy car when we came across this, the Bobby-AMG GT set for Paris Motor Show debut. Mercedes’ new bobby car is exact replica of the real AMG GT… for three-year-olds.
To be precise, the Bobby-AMG GT is a replica of the AMG GT Roadster, what with it being open-top and all. Mercedes-Benz has obviously spent some time thinking about this thing because it looks like a legit toy. It is just unfortunate that they had to reveal it now, after McLaren came up with their own toy car. Now everybody is going to think Mercedes is copying their former partners. In fairness though, making toy cars is less embarrassing for Mercedes than for McLaren seeing as they are a huge conglomerate with various business ventures including branded merchandise.
At any rate, if you want to begin spoiling your children at an early age, the AMG GT bobby car is the perfect tool. Mercedes has a fun way of describing their latest product: “At the Paris Motor Show, the new Bobby-AMG GT will roll into the limelight. The open- top single seater features a powerful drive system powered by two little human feet, whisper tyres for outstanding grip even on slick indoor surfaces and direct steering for superior manoeuvrability when tackling those living room slaloms.”
