In recent years, and for some unfathomable reason, Mercedes-Benz suddenly went convertible crazy and launched one drop-top after another. It would be all right, except that in doing so they undermined their own established convertible like the SL and the SLK by cars like the S Class convertible and this, the new Mercedes C Class Cabrio.

But an average customer doesn’t care about all that. They are just happy that they have more choices now should they decide they want a luxurious open-top motor with exquisite design and top-notch quality. The 2017 Mercedes C Class Cabrio, in its base C180 guise, is one of the most affordable cars of this series of cars, but as we know it is good for a convertible to be fairly basic in specs and engine. So let’s have a closer look at this car and see if it deserves to be called the new CLK:

So the C Cabrio looks better than a SLK, it has more seats than a SLK, more engine choices, and up to date features and equipment. On the downside it has a soft top rather than a folding hard top. Which one would you choose?
