We have already shown you a very decent rendering of the next BMW M5, penned merely hours after the standard 5 Series made its online debut. Now let’s check out what famed car designer Jon Sibal thinks the next M5 will look like in his rendition of the sports sedan.
Granted, there is only so much a designer can do to turn a 5 Series into a M5 and stay within the confinements of reasonableness. BMW M5 has never been a major departure, design-wise, from the standard 5er, and it seems that will be doubly the case with the F90 model seeing as the base G30 car has such a conservative design. Still, that hasn’t stopped Sibal from trying on the car a seriously sporty front bumper and chunky skirts, and we have to say the end result does look kind of sweet.
As for what you can expect from the 2018 BMW M5 in terms of performance characteristics, well, a downsized engine with bigger turbo and, of course, bigger power will almost certainly be on the cards, as will a four-wheel-drive variant. We do hope that BMW goes nuts with this M5 and decide to take back the sports sedan crown that was snatched from them by Mercedes-AMG this past few years. We would like to see an M5 with well over 600 horsepower!
