The latest project by the European interior specialist Carlex Design concerns an extremely utilitarian vehicle not really in need of a high-end interior treatment. It’s a Toyota Tacoma converted to an off-road monster and styled accordingly by the guys at Carlex.
Pitched as a military-grade off-roader, this tricked-out Toyota Tacoma features a full set of rough terrain accessories such as performance bumpers and fenders, a winch, underbody protection, jacked-up suspension, and large and rugged off-road wheels and tires.
But since nobody said you can’t go off-roading while cocooned in a nice and luxurious cabin, Carlex has come up with this package for the Tacoma in which they have covered pretty much everything in the cabin in a sort of military green leather complete with thick, contrast stitching. There is also Alcantara accents, sport bucket seats with harness and rugged upholstery, special floor mats, and a utilitarian steering wheel wrapped in leather. Another nice touch is the deep green Alcantara headliner which makes you feel you are in the forest itself while protecting you from the element.
The Toyota Tacoma by Carlex Design seems like an excellent adventure-mobile and one that hasn’t cost an awful lot, considering it’s based on an older model. We really like it.
