Lamborghini’s Los Angeles Auto Show debut this year is a mixture of two of their existing models. As the name Lamborghini Huracan RWD Spyder clearly suggests, this is an open-top version of the LP 580-2 which blends the fun of alfresco motoring with the thrill of rear-drive hooliganism.
So this car is pretty much what it says on the tin, which begs the question why did Lambo go to the trouble of renting a Mediterranean-inspired property on a private estate above the coastal Los Angeles neighborhood to unveil it. At any rate, Lamborghini Huracan RWD Spyder complements nicely the now four-strong V10 lineup and gives those supercar buyers looking for something a bit more special than the stock Spyder an alternative.
And just to recap the car’s technical specs, the naturally aspirated V10 5.2 l engine sends 426 kW / 580 hp to the rear axle, which with a dry weight of just 1,509 kg results in a weight-to-power ratio of 2.6 kg/hp. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 319 km/h.
“The rear-wheel drive Spyder enlarges the Huracán family’s core product range,” says Stefano Domenicali. “It offers the lifestyle appeal of open-air motoring with the pure thrill of rear-wheel drive engineering. This is a Lamborghini for those with a passion for life and the purest driving experience on the open road. It’s also a Huracán for those entering the Lamborghini family, wanting a true Spyder experience without compromising on the performance and dynamic handling of a rear-wheel drive car.”
