The high-performance crossover market has been experiencing a steady growth over the past couple of years and more and more of the major players in this segment want to get involved. As always, Audi has tried to make the game over before it begins by offering a virtually flawless product in form of the 2018 Audi SQ5.
And as always, the product seems a lot better on paper. Not that 2018 Audi SQ5 is bad or anything, but getting the numbers right is just part of the equation. In order to make a kickass high-performance crossover one needs more than impressive numbers. It also needs to be charming, and that is where we reckon the SQ5 has little to say when compared to stuff like the Macan or the GLC 43.

As for those impressive numbers, the 2018 Audi SQ5 features a turbocharged a 2,995 cc, V6 TFSI engine with an output of 260 kW (354 hp) and peak torque of 500 Nm (368.8 lb-ft) of torque from 1,370 to 4,500 rpm. This enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 5.4 seconds, on to an electronically-governed top speed of 250 km/h (155.3 mph). Fuel economy-wise, the SQ5 consumes just 8.3 liters of fuel per 100 kilometer (28.3 US mpg) – a CO2 equivalent of 189 grams per kilometer (304.2 g/mi).
