For those of you who are old enough to remember the magnificent Porsche 928 this is going to be good news! Porsche is planning to revive the car, but only if the economy recovers from the current nasty downturn. If so, it’ll be a large three-door coupe based on the Panamera.

This being Porsche with its lazy designers, the chances for the car to look exactly like the Panamera is high, and more than that because Porsche has spent billions of euros on the Panamera project, they admit that they are going to make the most of it with another model. It means that they only have to slightly change the current car and put it on sale under a new name! And for that reason you can be sure that the new 928 will get into production eventually.

We guess that the new 928 will be like the Cayman, a kind of gap filler in the market. Something in between the 911 sportscar and the Panamera sedan. In that case it’ll be competing directly with names like Bentley GT ( which its new model will come in 2010) Aston Martin DBS and Maserati GT. And it’s not likely that it gets the amazing folding headlights like the original 928.
