Fiat 500 is a cool and fun car and it becomes absolutely brilliant when it’s equipped with a powerful Abarth turbocharged engine! But for those who don’t need that much power and just want to enjoy the swell styling and great ride of the 500, Fiat is offering a new economical version of the car which is fitted with their new 1.3-liter 16-valve MultiJet diesel engine.

Replacing the old 75 hp MultiJet unit, this new engine develops 95 hp and 200 nm of torque which is good for a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 10.7 second, as opposed to the old model’s 12.5 seconds. The max speed is also increased from 103 to 112 mph.

Amazingly, the average fuel consumption is also improved! While the old engine could manage 67.3mpg, the new one, thanks to the start/stop system and the DPF particulate filter, does an incredible 72.4mpg, with Co2 emissions of just 104 g/km.

This car is another fine example of an green and eco-minded car which is actually cool. And that begs the question why would you spend  a whole lot more money on a hybrid which is uglier, weaker and not even as economical?! Buy this Fiat instead and save yourself some dignity!

“This remarkable new diesel engine will add even greater excitement to the fantastic 500 range, but without adding to the cost of ownership,” says Andrew Humberstone, managing director, Fiat Group Automobiles UK Ltd. “In fact, with greater fuel economy and lower emissions, everyone will benefit from this new variant.”
