Apparently Daimler finally realized they need some British sophistication to save Maybach. According to different reports, Daimler and Aston Martin are in talks for a joint project in which Aston will build the new Maybachs for the Germans and in return benefits from their engine technology for upcoming models.

Now that is just brilliant. I mean when Aston Martin was broke they came up with something like the Rapide, imagine what they can do with Maybach’s huge budget! To be honest what Maybach really needs is a great design and Aston Martin is the perfect company for the job.As Auto Zeitung reports the Aston-made Maybach will probably debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The British firm will also benefit from this cooperation and will receive engine technology from Mercedes and AMG to satisfy their need for both high performance and economical powertrains. Also they will get the Mercedes GL’s platform to build their Lagonda SUV upon it.
