Ferrari 612 Replacement Set For Geneva Debut?

In a recent interview Ferrari CEO Loca di Montezemolo confirmed that his company will be revealing a new and ‘very different’ model at 2011 Geneva Motor Show. That was enough to spark rumors about what we should be expecting. One thing’s for sure, the new Ferrari will be a greener model featuring the firm’s HY-KERS hybrid system consisting of a V12 engine coupled to an electric motor. It will be a suitable powertrain for the next Ferrari 612.

It could also be a new iteration of the 599, but given Don Loca’s speech that hints at a new model it is more likely to be a replacement for the 612 four-seater. A test mule based on that car has been spotted a number of times since 2008. The new model could also make use of Ferrari’s Start/Stop and HELE ( High Emotion – Low Emission) first seen in a special version of the California. It uses a number of electronic features for say air condition or fuel pumps, to reduce the load on the engine thus making it more efficient.

We will find out about this new Ferrari in three months!
