Ford released the first teaser shot of the upcoming Ford Focus Electric which apparently feature an illuminated plug door, probably inspired by the Tron movie! Since this car is more appealing to geeks than gearheads, Ford decided to unveil at the CES – Consumer Electronics Show – rather than a motor show.

The Focus Electric will be the company’s first battery-powered passenger car and will be launched into the market from summer 2011. At first only 19 U.S. cities will get this car including Atlanta; Austin and Houston, Texas; Boston; Chicago; Denver; Detroit; Los Angeles; New York; Orlando, Florida; San Francisco; San Diego; Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; Portland, Oregon; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Richmond, Virginia; Seattle and Washington, D.C.

The car is said to have a range of 100 miles, but there’s still a long way ahead until its launch. They can monitor Nissan LEAF and Chevrolet Volt’s performance and make changes if necessary!
