Hyundai Veloster at Hyundai Veloster Turbo Gets 208 Horsepower

Details of Hyundai’s new 1.6 liter T-GDI turbo engine have been revealed, and it makes 208 horsepower and around 260 Nm of torque. It will power 2012 Hyundai Veloster Turbo.

Although we would love to see a 2.0 liter turbo in this car, but downsizing is inevitable for Hyundai to achieve ambitious CAFE goals they’ve set for themselves. This 1.6 T-GDI unit features direct-injection and Blue Drive technologies for maximum efficiency. The turbocharger makes the engine lighter at fuel in lower revs and more gutsy at high revs. It is also a twin-scroll system which enhances responsiveness and performance.

The new Turbo engine will make debut in the Veloster and will then be used in other cars like the next Kia Cee’D and Hyundai ix30.
