Two of the Ford’s latest hot hatches are gearing up for their US debut at Los Angeles car show later this month.

To familiarize the Americans with hot hatch culture, Ford will dispatch the five-door Fiesta ST first, with a 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine developing 180 PS and 177 lb-ft of torque.

Granted the average American might find it hard getting into this small car, but once they’re in, they’re in for another surprise as the car comes with a six-manual gearbox. Americans don’t usually like stick.

But once they’re past the initial shock, they will be enjoying the fizzy little car big time. It can do 0 to 60 mph in under 7 seconds and reach a top speed of very nearly 140 mph.

Once the Yanks got acclimated with the Fiesta ST, they can then step it up a bit and get a Focus ST.

This bigger car has a 2.0 liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine and makes 250PS with 265 lb-ft of torque. It still comes with a amnual gearbox, but is much faster than the Fiesta, and is more practical for everyday use as well.

Both cars get sporty bodykits with revised bumpers, front and rear spoilers. The Fiesta gets 17-inch and the Focus 18-inch wheels with high performance tires. They also feature sport-tuned suspension and brakes over the normal models.
