The third version of Toyota’s 86 sports car is for America and it wears a Scion badge over there.

The Scion FR-S goes on sale in America from spring 2012 for an undisclosed price. The 2+2 sports coupe is a classic front-engined rear-drive car but it promises better handling and balance,  and more driving fun because of its boxer engine.

This 2.0 liter Flat-Four unit is not that powerful and makes only 200 hp. But because it is so low, the whole car’s center of gravity is so low, which means it should be great in taking corners at high speed.

The car can he had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The manual offers quick, precise shifts with a short-throw; while the automatic transmission features aggressive up shifts and sporty rev-matched down shifts that are initiated by steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Both of them transfer the power via a limited-slip diff.

Other versions of this car are Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ.
