Geneva 2012: Range Rover Evoque Convertible

Evoque Convertible Concept 1 at Geneva 2012: Range Rover Evoque Convertible

The Evoque convertible made its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and although it looks pretty much production-ready, there’s still a long way ahead of it to complete the transition from concept to reality. It’s a hugely appealing prospect though, a gorgeous drop-top Sport Utility Vehicle with Range Rover badge sounds like the most perfect car. But there are a few issues.

And we’re not talking about technical and dynamic ones. We are more concerned about how the car looks with the roof up. Range Rover has only released one picture of the car in that condition, which is not really enough evidence to judge.

The car is superb with the roof down though. RR engineers say the new convertible body style has been achieved with minimal changes to weight and torsional rigidity.

Apart form the roof, nothing else seems to be changed over the production model. The concept is packed with Evoque’s award winning technology including Terrain Response, surround cameras, Park Assist and class leading infotainment featuring an 8-inch dual view touch screen and a sound system from British audio experts, Meridian. The Evoque Convertible Concept features unique 21-inch Titan silver wheels and is finished in a new metallic Causeway Grey paint. The interior is in Lunar and Ivory with leather seats featuring sporty perforated panels and Ivory contrast stitching.

A decision about making the car is expected to be announced after the Geneva Motor Show. In the mean time, enjoy these brand-new pictures of the car:
