News Emerge that Lamborghini is going to trademark the name “Deimos.” At first it doesn’t sound like a proper name for a new Lamborghini model, it somehow lacks the Italian music names like Gallardo, Aventador or Murcielago have, and it has nothing to do with bulls. But when you find out about its meaning, you realize it is actually a perfect name for a Lamborghini.
Deimos is Greek for dread and terror, and is also the name of the son of Aphrodite. It is apparently a very scary, unforgiving god. Now, we wouldn’t put such a name on a SUV that is going to be used by families! It’s more suitable for a supercar. But what matters is that the name Deimos is too good to be put on a Lamborghini-branded merchandise like aftershaves or sunglasses. It is definitely for a new model.
And the closest thing to a new model Lamborghini currently has in store is the new SUV, which was previewed to some VIPs in New York a few days ago. That said, Deimos could be also be what Lamborghini has come up with for the Gallardo replacement, currently known as the Cabrera.
