Toyota announced summer 2012 as the time when they will be ready to launch the new Prius Plus (or Prius+ as it’s badged) in the British market. The Plus is the first full hybrid seven-seat MPV, offering a CO2 rating of just 100 g/km, which is unmatched in this segment. Prices start at £26,195 for the T4 model, and £29,495 for the better-equipped T Spirit.
Talking about power and performance when we’re dealing with a minivan, and a hybrid one for that matter, is irrelevant. So let us instead tell you about the fuel economy and space, which are 68.9mpg for the T4 and 64.2mpg for the T Spirit, and 200 liters – expandable to 550 liters when third-row seats are folded.
As for the features and equipments, T4 is equipped with electric windows all round, Toyota Touch touchscreen control, Bluetooth, rear-view camera, head-up display, Smart Entry and Start, panoramic roof and automatic air conditioning, while the T Spirit features 17-inch alloys, leather upholstery Toyota Touch and Go Plus with satellite navigation, voice recognition, advanced Bluetooth and on-line connectivity, plus rain-sensing wipers and JBL audio system.
Seven exterior colours are available for Prius+: Pure White and Astral Black (solid); Decuma Grey, Tyrol Silver, Vermilion Red and Orion Blue (metallics); and White Pearl (pearlescent). The T4 grade comes with Hayama grey cloth upholstery, with Nagara black leather fitted to the T Spirit.
