Yep, this is yet another Ferrari on fire. Although this time you can’t really blame the car maker, because a. it’s not a real Ferrari – it’s a one-off race car built by American billionaire James Glickenhaus as a toy – and b. the fire was caused by a fuel spill during a pitstop at the 2012 Nurburgring 24 Hours race, in which the car managed to finish 12th overall.

It is still sad though, as it could bring Glickenhaus’ dream to a bitter end. The guy has put his heart and soul – as well as money – into this project to create a unique racing car capable of keeping up with all the big names in business. We respect that.

Fortunately, the team had a couple of fire extinguishers at hand and brought the flames under the control. But we are guessing this picture will remain forever in the Ferrari P4/5’s journal. The car finished the race 1st in its Alternate Energy Class and as mentioned 12th overall.

More importantly, the p4/5 has also set the fastest lap record around the Nurburgring for a Ferrari-powered car.
