Skoda is taking its sweet time over turning the MissionL Concept into a produciton model called the Rapid. That’s rather odd because based on these official renderings they’ve released of the production version, not much has been changed in terms of styling. The Rapid is the first car to be designed based on Skoda’s new design philosophy, which is remarkably similar to the old one!

The car is still very recognizable as a Skoda, but it’s good looking and also a bit posh, at least compared to the Octavia and the Fabia. The mid-size sedan was first revealed in concept form at the 2011 IAA and is now getting ready for a 2013 launch. Size-wise, it slots between the Ocatvia and Fabia, and will probably get the same engine lineup as well. It sounds promising, at least for an Eastern Bloc car, as long as they price it like a Skoda.
