Just as Chrysler announced a new AWD version of Dodge Charger Pursuit, Ford revealed a new version of their Police car, the Interceptor sedan, which features better performance and fuel economy. The Interceptor is said to be the perfect modern cop car, and it was ranked first in Top Gear USA’s Police car group test.

This car comes as standard with all-wheel-drive, so to keep the edge over the Charger, Ford enhanced its dynamics with performance increase to 305 horsepower and 279 lb.-ft. of torque while also achieving increased fuel economy of 25 mpg on the highway, 18 mpg in the city and 21 mpg combined.

The performance upgrade benefits the 3.7 liter V6, but it’s not the only engine on offer. The Police Interceptor sedan is available with a standard 3.5-liter V6, the new 3.7-liter V6 and the performance powerhouse 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine.

Ford has one other thing to boast, as both Ford Police Interceptors, sedan and utility vehicle, recently earned top safety ratings in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program testing. If only it looked as cool as the Charger!
