Poetry In Motion: McLaren 12C Spider

Yeah, I know that title is at risk of sounding cliche, but it’s true. McLaren 12C Spider is indeed poetry in motion, and we’re not talking about some dreary, boring kind of poetry. It is properly exciting, properly hot. That is best shown in this new set of images McLaren released of their drop-top super car.

You hear these stories about McLaren MP4-12C being a bit soulless and cold – and there is a degree of truth to them – but that argument doesn’t hold water about the Spider. By dropping the top McLaren transformed the MP4 into something that feels alive. You are more exposed to the elements, you hear the engine better, and you feel you are more involved in the process.

None of the amazing things the hardtop offers have been lost though. The car is still enormously comfortable, hugely fast, and impressively capable of devouring corners. It does 0 to 60 mph in slightly over 3 seconds, and reaches well over 200 mph if you unleash it.

All those awesome stuff come at a price though. By the time you get one of these specced-up, delivered, and at your driveway, it will set you back about 300 grand USD.
