The new generation Subaru Forester, which is about to make its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show has been confirmed for the UK market, where it goes on sale in the Summer 2013. In Britain the Forester comes with three 2.0 liter Boxer engines.

They include a new turbocharged unit, developing 280ps. Now one might wonder why Subaru doesn’t offer this jewel of an engine for the BRZ? Anyway, the other two powertrains available for the tough off-roader include a diesel and a petrol engine, both with 150ps.

As for the transmissions, both of the naturally-aspirated engines will feature a six-speed manual transmission as standard, while Subaru’s Lineartronic (CVT) transmission is available on both petrol engines. All models of course get Subaru’s great Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

The new Forester is larger and more spacious than the old model. It is also more refined, more luxurious and better looking, without any compromise on its ruggedness and go-anywhere attitude. Pricing will be confirmed closer to launch.
