Cadillac unveiled the production version of their Converj concept in form of the ELR electric vehicle at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. Designing this car was a challenge for the team at Cadillac, because they had to make a pretty and classy body around Chevy Volt’s structure and its famous T-shaped battery pack. So similarities were inevitable.
But as Cadillac Design Manager Tim Kozub explains in this video, it’s also been fun:
Cadillac ELR’s Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology provides full driving range exceeding 300 miles (480 km), combining pure electric driving and an efficient, range-extending generator. Charging the Cadillac ELR’s battery can be done with a 120V electrical outlet or a dedicated 240V charging station. The vehicle can be completely recharged in about 4.5 hours using a 240V outlet, depending on the outside temperature.
