Porsche engineers are currently hard at work developing the next generation of the Panamera. Codenamed 970 and 971, the new models not only get a fresh new look, the engine lineup is also being enhanced. Now, based on the sound of this particular prototype, caught on the road in Stuttgart, we have a sneaking suspicion they are going to be very good indeed!

Because of the darkness you won’t be able to see the body very clearly, but it is camouflaged anyway. This condition, however, enables you to get a good look at the car’s new front and rear lights.

The sound this engine makes it too brutal to come from a V6. It is definitely a V8 – probably the 4S version. It could also be the Turbo with a sport exhaust system, but the standard Panamera Turbo is actually rather quiet. Those meaty turbos kill most of the V8 soundtrack.
