Fiat Powertrain Technologies Poland plant in Bielsko-Biala is celebrating the production of the five millionth 1. 3 liter MultiJet engine. This remarkable milestone proves Fiat’s theory that a small diesel engine with decent power and great fuel economy is just what Europe needs right now.

With four cylinders in line, 16 valves and 1248 cm3 capacity, the MultiJet family comes in two versions; one with fixed geometry turbocharger (from 70 to 75 HP), and the other with variable geometry turbocharger versions (from 85 to 95 HP). The milestone unit was an 85 HP version and it will drive a Fiat 500L.

The 1.3 MultiJet is fitted on many cars in the Fiat Group Automobiles range: Fiat Panda, Fiat Punto, Chrysler Ypsilon, Alfa Romeo MiTo, Fiat Qubo, Fiat Doblò, Fiat Strada, Fiat Fiorino, Fiat 500 and 500L, as well as various models by other car manufacturers.

This milestone is also a feather in Fiat’s Polish engine plant’s cap. It is one of the most advance automotive sectors in the world, certified in 2012 with the WCM gold medal. They also make the hugely popular 0/9 liter TwinAir engine at this site.
