Porsche 991 Targa leak 0 600x328 at Porsche 991 Targa: First Pictures

Suddenly it’s like somebody somewhere on the internet opened a tap and major debuts of the 2014 Detroit Motor Show started leaking out one after another. After the Kia GT4 Concept, feast your eyes on the new Porsche 911 (991) Targa, revealed early for your viewing pleasure y a Chinese website.

Looking rather splendid with its unique roof arrangement, the Porsche 991 Targa is an homage to the first 911 Targa of the 1960’s, what with the iconic silver pillar that is an exact copy of the original, and the large and curvy rear window.

Porsche says the roof itself is “quite amazing”, although in the pictures it appears to be one of those removable tops that can be stored under the rear hatch for emergency use. That said, they could have gone the extra mile and designed something really amazing with some clever storage system. We shall find out soon enough.

Apart from the roof thing, the rest of the Porsche 991 Targa is the same as the normal 911. You can have it in normal and S guises, and with two- or four-wheel-drive.
