The next model from the six-strong “Les Légendes de Bugatti” lineup has been revealed ahead of its debut at the Beijing Auto Show in form of Bugatti Veyron Vitesse Black Bess. The fifth legendary Bugga is named after the 1912 Type 18 “Black Bess” rod-legal race car.

The Type 18 was driven by company founder Ettore Bugatti himself in various event, and was bought by prominent figures of the time such as French aviation pioneer Roland Garros. The car was later named Black Bess after an English racehorse.

While the original Type 18 Black Bess had but a 100 horsepower and a top speed of 160 km/h, its modern-day namesake is the fastest open-top car in the world, boasting 1,200 horsepower and a top speed 408.84 km/h with the roof down. It is distinguished from the “normal” Vitesse models thanks to a full black exterior, garnished with gold-coloured accents. Some of these accents, including the Bugatti horseshoe, are coated in 24-carat gold.

The interior of Bugatti Veyron Vitesse Black Bess is finished in a myriad of colors, with light beige used on the headliner, footwell, seats, elongated centre console and rear bulkhead, Havana on the dashboard, dash panel, door trim panel and cowl panel, Crimson for the steering wheel.

Just like the other Legends of Bugatti models, the Vitesse Black Bess will be limited to just three units, each costing in excess of 2 Million Euros.
