As we have mentioned before, at this year’s SEMA show Hyundai is shifting attention from the Genesis Coupe and Veloster, the sporty models, to the humdrum saloons like the Sonata and Genesis sedan. The idea is to make these family cars look cool and desirable by launching many custom concept versions of them. Here’s another custom Sonata headed to 2014 SEMA.

This one is created in collaboration with John Pangilinan, hence the name Hyundai Sonata JP Edition. It is inspired by Los Angeles street art culture, although the car in the picture they have released appears to be stock white with a body kit and just a stripe. That is apparently intentional, as JP wanted the car to represent a blank white canvas.

Hyundai Sonata JP Edition is a true SEMA concept though, benefitting from a wide range of aftermarket upgrade parts. The list includes AEM cold air intake, a MagnaFlow exhaust kit and a hot charge pipe from Bisimoto engineering, KW coilovers, LTMW wide body kit, 19-in. RAYS Gram Lights 57Getter wheels wrapped in Toyo R888 tires, RECARO cross sportster seats and BP Auto Sound with Alpine and Scosche electronics.
