Texan tuner Hennessey Performance released initial details of their upgrade program for the new Corvette Z06. They begin with a 750 horsepower and move up to an 850-hp package, but the highlight of this program is the Hennessey Corvette Z06 HPE1000 with one thousand brake horsepower.

Hennessey is an expert at extracting inordinate amount of horsepower out of any engine, especially big, beefy American V8s. For the new Z06 they are proposing a 2.9 liter supercharger system the replaces Chevy’s unit on the 6.2 liter engine, along with forged pistons and rods, high-performance HPE camshafts, ported cylinder head, engine calibration, custom air intake and exhaust system with steel headers and downpipes.

To keep the beastly heart of the Hennessey Corvette Z06 cool they have upgraded the intercooling system with a high-flow unit, plus upgraded custom pipes and PTFE heat shrink tubing and an upgraded heat exchanger. The work is still in progress, but Hennessey engineers reckon once they are done with all the changes, the Z06 will be able to easily make 1,000 bhp. It is going to be one of the fastest cars ever to come out of Texas.
