They teased it way too much, but the Lexus LF-C2 Concept is now finally official, and it is a serious bit of kit. The 2+2 “design study” clearly previews an open-top version of the RC sports coupe and shows “what’s in store for the brand’s future design direction,” according to Lexus VP.
Being a descendant f the RC, Lexus LF-C2 Concept has a fairly controversial but undeniably striking look with a massive spindle grille up front and some properly fancy lines from there backwards. The concept features bespoke bumpers and more sculpted details, and a unique golden yellow paint job.

This color is the result of a multi-layer process that results in an exquisite shine. The first coat is a primer, followed by silver, a clear coat, then the yellow that reflects off the silver to give the brilliant luster. A final top coat is then applied. Sounds like a bit of a hassle, but totally worth it.
Apart from those features and a set of 20-inch wheels, the rest of the LF-C2 is the same as the RC. The cabin is identical to the production car and one would imagine it is the same story under the bonnet. Lexus, of course, remains tight-lipped as to when and if they are putting this car into production.
“We’ve been instinctively drawn to and inspired by those things that capture the beauty of light,” said Yasuo Kajino, chief designer LF-C2, Lexus Design Division. “When you put something in the right light, people see it in a way they never have before.”
