To do away with any unwanted leaks, McLaren Automotive released the official details and pictures of their new Sports Series model, the McLaren 570S, prior to its New York Motor Show debut. This car is a whole new thing for McLaren in terms of design, inside and out.

McLaren 570S is pitched as a “most usable” sports car and is specced-up accordingly. That has enabled the designers and engineers to break free from the firm’s traditional values of extreme performance – at least to some extent – and focus a bit more on good looks, and a cabin you would actually want to spend time in .

Make no mistake, the 570S is a serious performance machine, boasting a 570 PS 3.8 liter bi-turbo V8 engine and a carbon structure, dual-clutch transmission, and rear-wheel-drive. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds, while 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached in just 9.5 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 328 km/h (204mph). But it is not a supercar and therefore it doesn’t have to live up to those high standards.

The ‘shrinkwrapped’ design of McLaren 570S kind of shows how relaxed the designers were, as for once they didn’t give function a higher priority over form; at least not entirely. It is still a pretty ‘optimized’ design though, featuring super cool flying buttresses for the sake of downforce. The compact size of the 570S has also given it the low weight of 1.3 tons.

The best part of McLaren 570S, in out opinion, is the interior. It is miles better than that of its sibling which don’t really have a cabin as such. Here you will find plush nappa leather and carbon fibre, as well as Alcantara accents, McLaren Audio Plus 8-Speaker Upgrade System and bespoke Bowers & Wilkins 12-Speaker Premium Audio System with 1280W surround sound option.
