Citroen Aircross Concept Officially Unveiled

Citroen Aircross Concept Official 0 600x376 at Citroen Aircross Concept Officially Unveiled

Earlier today we showed you the first picture of the new Citroen Aircross Concept, a rather cool design study the French automaker is preparing for the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. The official details and pictures of this bad boy have now been released, and it’s crazier than we first thought.

Essentially a C4 Cactus underneath, Citroen Aircross Concept is a modern and surreal take on the crossover, combining traditional crossover trait such as fairly compact size, good ground clearance, and large wheels, with classic Citroen design touches which is what set this car apart and make it a desirable object.

Those of you who know your Citroens will notice that the Cactus’ airbumps are missing here. That is because Citroen Aircross Concept replaces them with ‘Alloy Bumps’ and ‘Air Signs’ which are not only stronger, they also give the car a very unique appearance. The alloy bumps feature aluminum and hard rubber for better protection, while air signs utilize a good amount of chrome.

Another highlight of Citroen Aircross Concept is its plug-in hybrid petrol powertrain consisting of a petrol unit up front and an electric motor located on the rear axle. The 1.6 THP petrol engine is good for 218bhp (160kW) and torque of 275Nm, while the electric motor develops 95bhp (70kW) and torque of 200Nm. That means you have a total 313bhp at your disposal, enough for making 100 km/h from 0 in 4.5 seconds and achieving an average fuel consumption figure of 166 mpg – at least in theory.
