Skoda decided to give the job of creating the 2015 Worthersee concept to a team of apprentices, presumably because the real designers and engineers could not be bothered. Skoda Funstar Pickup is the ‘trainee car’ these young people have come up with.

The work on this ‘fun concept’ project started back in 2014 with the team spending a good deal of time developing ideas and discussing possible solutions and drawing. In the end they settled on this pickup truck because it’s never been done before, and they chose Skoda Funstar Pickup as the official name for it.

One of the main highlights of the Funstar is the combination of colors the young bucks have chosen for it. It features metallic steel-grey and moon-white on the body, and reflex-green on the sills, grille surround and the rear spoiler. The car also gets green LEDs mounted below the sidebars and dual-lens LED headlights.

Skoda Funstar Pickup is based on the new Fabia, but its 18-inch ‘Gemini’ alloys come from the Octavia RS and it is powered by a 1.2 TSI petrol with 90 kW mated to a modern seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The car also features a sport steering wheel and a 1400-Watt sound system. That last feature alone indicates the average age of the people who built this car.
