Regular readers know that here at MW we have a soft spot for the Porsche Cayman GT4. We believe everything about this car is just perfect and you need not upgrade it in anyway or form. The boys at Mcchip-DKR, of course, beg to differ. They have tailored a chip tuning kit for the GT4 that is so neat and tidy, it makes perfect sense for owner to have it installed.

The 3.8 liter flat-six engine in the Porsche Cayman GT4 is an engineering marvel. The compact, sweet-sounding, ultra-reliable unit makes, in its standard factory form, 385 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. So even before you start upgrading this car, the GT4 is breathing down 911’s neck. What Mcchip proposes is a nice and simple chip upgrade that will push the power output beyond the magical 400 barrier.

That is, of course, not enough to make the Porsche Cayman GT4 a rival for the 991 GT3 like Mcchip has in mind. But the kit boosts the output to 406 horsepower and 452 Nm of torque. The extra twenty horses and thirsty or so torque you gain from this treatment is the cleanest, easiest, and the most affordable upgrade imaginable for the GT4’s engine. It’s like when you add garlic butter to lobster. The lobster is pretty good as it is, but with the butter it become a lot tastier!
