Although we have already seen the new 2016 Ford GT LM GTE in action at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, we still find ourselves strangely attracted to this thing every time it is caught doing some testing on the race track. I mean, it’s a new Ford GT with a sick aero kit on it. What’s not to like?

Well, Ford GT LM GTE is actually a lot more than just that. The Le Mans prototype racer is a whole lot different from the road-going Ford GT you will be able to buy next year. It looks like a veritable alien spaceship, which is one reason we like to see it often, and it looks damn nimble going through those corners as well. This car is going to spice up the racing series it is going to enter – including FIA World Endurance Championship and TUDOR United SportsCar Championship – no end.

Boasting a lightweight construction and carefully designed aerodynamics, Ford GT LM GTE is powered by a Roush tuned version of the 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 engine you’ll find in the production model.
