The name Touring Superleggera has become synonymous with the world’s most exquisite cars this past few years thanks to creations like the magnificent Disco Volante. Now at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show they reveal a new open-top version of that car, the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder.

Yes, this thing is every bit a good as the name suggests it would be. I mean, it’s a drop-top Disco Volante. How can you go wrong with that? Of course, they have done more than just chopping the top off of a coupe to make the Disco Volante Spyder. The new car comes with new interior trim and seven brand-new colors for each one of the only seven production units.

The reason for Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder utter and complete exquisiteness is partly because the design is just amazing, partly because it’s based on the Alfa Romeo 8C, and to a great extent because this car is made using the old craftsmen technique: men beating sheets of aluminum into the shape of a car with a hammer. The color on the Spyder on display in Geneva is called Blue Ceruleo and it’s paired with Connolly leather inside.
