Jay Leno Reviews a 1993 Jaguar XJ220

This episode of Jay Leno’s Garage is filmed in the Jaguar section of the garage as the car featured in it is the coolest, most badass Jag of all time. It’s a 1993 Jaguar XJ220 and one with interesting history. It has apparently spent the last 12 years on the 37th floor of a Tokyo office building.

You know, for an Italian guy Jay doesn’t seem awfully interested in Italian cars. His favorite cars are French, German, British and American, and he doesn’t own a single Ferrari. It’s just fascinating.

Just to recap, the beating heart of the Jaguar XJ220 is a 3.5 liter V6 twin Garrett T3 turbo with 542 bhp and 476 lb ft (645 Nm) of torque. It’s been the source of a great deal of controversy, mainly because the original customers paid for a V12 and got a V6 instead. Still, we doubt many of the people who put an order for the XJ220 did so because of the power and performance. We reckon they did it because they were completely enchanted by the design of the car and its sheer presence. It’s just such a cool design. Even today the thing looks absolutely awesome. Why can’t they design cars like this anymore?
