In one of the best customer track day event they have organized in years, Porsche locked up the Nurburgring Nordschleife for a day and held an exclusive event for the owners of Porsche Carrera GT and Porsche 918 Spyders, the brands two most recent hyper cars.

And although pretty much every owner of a Porsche Carrera GT has already got a 918 as well, there is no denying that a degree of rivalry was initiated between the drivers of the two models as they took to the track for a spot of friendly competition. While the 918 looked pretty good handling those corners, the CGT just looked sublime.

So yes, if we had to choose only one of these great machines we’d go for the old, non-hybrid, V10-powered, difficult to drive and manually geared Carrera GT. There is just something about this machine that after all these years it still looks awesome. And as for the performance, in the right hands the CGT can not only hold its own again most of today’s hybrid hyper cars, it could well also embarrass them.
