Geneva Preview: Hyundai i30 Wagon

i30 Wagon teaser 600x298 at Geneva Preview: Hyundai i30 Wagon

Model range expansion is the name of the game these days for Hyundai, and the next member of their large family to get the treatment is the i30. They will launch a new body style for this model at the Geneva Motor Show with the Hyundai i30 Wagon, making the popular mid-range hatchback even more appealing to the mid-range families who buy it.

Now, Hyundai i30 Wagon may already be present in other markets under different monikers and looks, but the European version to be released at Geneva seems to a pretty decent bit of kit. For starters, it is based on the latest i30 which has a fine design and benefits from excellent build quality and a host of features and equipment. What is more, as one would guess looking at the dark teaser photo they sent out, the i30 Wagon is not one of those dull box on wheels sort of things. It’s going to have some character to it to complement the practical side of the equation.

“The New Generation i30 Wagon speaks the language of the i30 family in terms of design, and it carries the new Hyundai family identity – the Cascading Grille,” explains Thomas Bürkle, Chief Designer at Hyundai Design Centre Europe. “The tapering roofline and the dynamic proportions give the Wagon an almost coupé-like silhouette. The sleek and dynamic profile is further emphasised by a rich chrome frame surrounding the side windows.”
