Desperate time calls for desperate measures! Thanks to the economic downturn the super-sized Americans are getting accustomed with much smaller cars than they are used to! Toyota Yaris is a good example in this case and now here comes another lil’ car from Ford Europe, the amazing Fiesta.
Fiesta’s launch in the States is a bit unusual though! You see before they actually put it on sale, they have devised a little test to make sure if the car is suitable for America in the first place. So they have imported 100 Fiestas in the first phase and these cars will be given to 100 potential customers who are picked among 4000 applicants!
These people will drive the Fiesta for 6 month for free! Like so, they put it through an extensive long term test in every day use. There couldn’t be a better way to test the cars to destruction! All of these cars are imported from Germany and are equipped with 120 hp four-cylinder engines with a manual gearbox, not very Americanish!
Unlike the Europe where you can opt for the very basic model which doesn’t even have electric windows for the back, the US versions are all fully loaded. In fact the 120 hp models will be offered as the most basic one. The car competes in the compact segment and is priced accordingly, $13,000 to $15,000.
