Just in time for this year’s New York Auto Show, Land Rover has unveiled its new slightly re-styled fleet of Vogue, Sport and Discovery LR4. Changes are substantial and the cars are almost the same as the old ones except for the front view, where all three got identical facelift and all got a bit uglier!

The Rang Rover Vogue, company’s flagship model and the king of the luxury SUVs receives a new face along with LED lights. But you look at it and just don’t get it why a new model should be uglier than the previous one?! The old RR was good, but instead of making it even better they gave it a cramped face, it looks like an idiot! And it has the worst front grille I’ve ever seen. The same cannot be said about the interior, as it’s got refreshed with a modern crisp look with new gadgets, best of which is the new multimedia interface with TFT screen  replacing the old rubbish one.

The new Range Rover Sport, one of the coolest cars around has also got a new face which is just not proper! Again, those new headlights are rubbish and the grille is terrible, but worst of all is the new bumper which is similar to the lazy boy HST model which is currently on the market. The old one looks much much better. A lot of people hated the old Sport because it’s cramped cabin wasn’t just as good as the Vogue, but the 2010 model comes with a new layout which is even better than that.

The Sport’s party piece however, is the new supercharged V8 unit which develops 510 HP and can take the car from 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds! and that’s really amazing when you know this car weighs a billion ton! The only worry here is the MPG figure as the old weaker model was one of the thirstiest car in the market.

And finally the LR4, which with its new face doesn’t look just right somehow! But it gets a powerful Jaguar-derived V8 with 375 hp to make it an even better mountaineer! Everything in this car has become smoother and more user-friendly, also Land Rover says that is on-road dynamic is improved by an enhanced chassis.

Range Rovers are not ordinary cars, they are in a class of their own, may not be compared with anything else. The new lineup is improved in terms of quality and technicality, but we are sorry to report that the re-styling has not worked very well. But that’s not too bad afterall, because this cars are all outgoing, they will be replaced by all new models in some years and also a new model line called LRX will be added to the range.
