Scion, a Toyota brand in the USA presents at 2009 New York Auto Show a tricked out version of the iQ, Toyota’s smallest production car. The lil’ iQ has had an extreme makeover by the Five Axis, a Californian tuner, and features an aggressive style which is nice. But a car in this size for US market?! No American would fit in it!
The iQ is a 3+1 seater! which means one of the rear seats can be folded so you’ll have a tiny luggage space, clever idea. Apart from the wide bodykit which makes the already iconic iQ even more distinctive, you get a whole lot more for a car like this, such as 18 inch wheels which are bigger than the car itself or a ginormous 10 inch multimedia screen in the cabin, again bigger than the car itself!
The car uses the standard 1.3 liter four-cylinder engine which kicks out 93 hp, fairly enough power for such tiny little thing. The Scion iQ is a fine tuning job but it doesn’t seem to be right for its purpose, which is selling in America. Anyhow, there is no official statement on when it’ll be available there, maybe never!

looks better than a smart, but for such a tiny toy of a car, you’d expect better than 36/37 mpg… if you’re going to ride around in a joke of a car, the least it can do is get kickass gas mileage, this probably doesn’t perform any better than a honda crx hp and those are like 20+years old and they did way better than this 41/50 -so you call this progress? yeah, right. what a joke.
I think you’re rong about how this will sell. You can get just about any price you ask for a two-door Echo here. They are collected by the car buffs. I bought mine for $9K a couple years ago. I’ve been offered 12. So anything that looks as funky and is as affordable and modable as the Echo, will fly outa the showrooms. Bring it on.

It does 0-60 in 12 secs so its tough looks are just a put-on.
