Despite a drive-through penalty, Aussie Mark Webber managed to keep it ahead of the others and grabbed his first victory in the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, which he had started from pole.  His young and talented teammate Sebastian Vettel finished second, giving the Red Bull Racing their third one-two of the season. As for the Ferrari, Filipe Massa scored a podium finish at third, while Raikonnen, hit by bad luck again, had to retire on lap 35.

Brawn drivers were not in their usual shape and only managed a fifth place for Button and sixth for Barichello. Lewis Hamilton came 18 as a result of a clash with Webber early in the race. Also Fernando Alonso who came seventh, set the fastest lap.
