Although all of the Lamborghini Murcielago editions including the early Murciealgo, LP 640, LP 650 and LP670 were kinda limited edition models, nevertheless this car managed to achieve a milestone in production as the 4,000th unit left the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese.

This actually shows how popular this model is despite of its really hefty price tag. The 4,000th model is a LP 670 Super Veloce built for a lucky Chinese buyer.

Commenting on the record production, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said, “The enthusiasm our products incite makes us proud and confirms that the company’s product strategy and model range are a winning combination, producing exceptionally desirable super sportscars.”

In comparison, 2900 units of the previous model, the Diablo, were built during 11 years of production. So apparently AUdi ownership has worked greatly for the Italian supercar maker!

Next year the legendary Murciealgo will be replaced by a new model allegedly called the Jota.
