Last year Renault announced the new Fluence Z.E. but only now the design and specs for this car and the other Z.E. electric car, the Kangoo Van have been finalized. These cars are developed for less important markets such as the Eastern Europe, and they are all-electric models with zero emission.
The Fluence Z.E. is powered by a synchronous electric motor with rotor coil.developing 70kW at 11,000rpm and maximum torque of 226Nm. Renault says that the acceleration is linear, but does not mention the number, so it must be poor! And so is the 135 km/h top speed of this thing. It also has a range of 160 Km on a single charge.
The Kangoo Van is powered by a different version of this electric motor with 44kW and it has a top speed of 130 km/h. It also has the same range of 160 Km of zero emission cargo delivery thanks to its payload of 650 Kg.
Charging these vehicles using the regular household power outlets takes between six to eight hours.
