The current generation of Ford Fiesta is one of those revolutionary models which will go down in the automotive history book as a truly great car. Now Ford decided to increase the Fiesta’s appeal by adding a touch of motorsport to its delicious recipe. The result is the Fiesta S1600, and as usual only the Brits will get it.

Not only this special editoin model is named like a rally car, it also features racing visual factors. It comes with a subtle bodykit including a unique front bumper with flared lower valence panel, extended side skirts, large rear spoiler and rear diffuser. The car can be had in either Frozen White or Performance Blue, with contrasting motorsport stripes.

They also offer new white alloy wheels to cope with the overall style. They come in 17-inch for the petrol and 16-inch for the diesel models. The S1600 variant is based on the Zetec S model and is powered by Ford’s 1.6-litre, 120 hp Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine. For those who want more power, Ford offers an official upgrade package from their performance partner Mountune.

Ford Fiesta S1600 is limited to 650 units and is priced from £16,645.

Fiesta S1600 continues a 30-year sporting Fiesta bloodline that began with the Mk1 XR2 in 1981 and has included Supersport, XR2(i), Si, RS and ST models.

Gill Palmer, Ford of Britain’s Fiesta Product Manager, said:  “Since its introduction, Fiesta and sporting pedigree have never been far apart and the latest incarnation of that is S1600, bringing extra motorsport feel to the award-winning Fiesta style and driving quality.”
