According to Autocar, Aston Martin has started working on all-new versions of its GT cars, DB9 and Vantage, and the results will be shown sometime in 2013/14. It’s not clear yet if the new DB9 will be called DB10 or something else, but as insiders reveal it won’t be a new car from the ground up. It’ll be an evolution of the current model with a new look.

Designwise, the new DB9 is said to be inspired by the One-77 supercar, which is good, even though Autocar’s rendering is a bit disappointing! But as we know Aston Martin never let the fans down when it comes to styling.

While the structure of the new models will remain the same, Aston is determined to reduce the weight of both DB9 and the Vantage by redesigning some of the underbody parts. They are targeting a 10 percent weight loss than the current models but it’s not likely that they swap the aluminum space frame for, say, a carbon fiber one due to price issues. But they might use it for some of the body parts like they do with the DBS, but then again, it’s way more expensive than a normal DB9.

The source also says that the next DB9 and Vantage will get re-engineered versions of their current V12 and V8 engines, with deep modifications for more power and better efficiency.
