If you are planning to buy a brand-new Ford Mondeo we advise you to wait a little longer, until these new versions come along! You get new engine options with the 2010 Mondeo, including a new 2.0 liter petrol and three editions of the upgraded 2.0 liter diesel, both offering decent performance with incredible fuel economy.

First there’s the 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine which features lightweight all-aluminium construction, a high-pressure direct-injection system, low-inertia turbocharging and twin-independent variable cam timing. So it’s capable of delivering 203 PS and 300 Nm of torque, and that results in 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and top speed of 232 mph (144 mph).

And yet the Modeno equipped with this engine can average 36.6mpg with CO2 emission of just 179g/km.

As for the diesel, you get the the improved 2.0-litre Ford Duratorq TDCi with 115, 140 and 163 PS. This engine also gets its fair share of new technology with its new solenoid fuel injectors, now with eight smaller holes. So it delivers amzing economy: 53.2mpg and an average CO2 emission of 139g/km.

Ford offers the petrol models with their latest PowerShift six-speed double-wet-clutch transmission. But this gearbox is optional for the diesel models, and only for the 140 and 163 PS verisons.
