At Goodwood Festival of Speed Mercedes will reveal the new C-Class DR520 Special Editions, designed and developed by company’s Specialist Products division at Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands, Surrey. Based on the C63 AMG and limited to only 20 units, these models feature both power and visual upgrades.
As for the power, the DR520 has 520 hp hence the name with 650 Nm of torque. That is a 60 hp and 50 Nm more than the standard car. So it’s faster to 60 mph than the original car as well, as the sedan does it in 4.1 seconds and the estate in 4.2 seconds. Also both models are electronically limited to a top speed of 187 mph, as opposed to the standard 155.
DR520 is fitted with AMG Performance Pack Plus as standard. This package includes AMG’s high-performance braking system with red calipers, with the addition of engine upgrades in the form of forged pistons, newly-developed connecting rods and a revised crankshaft, as well as an AMG Carbon Fibre rear spoiler for the Saloon.
This special model is mainly distinguished from normal models by the bespoke black or white matt color. It also gets Titanium finish alloy wheels, grille and discreet DR 520 badging on the wing and the boot lid.
The interior also benefits form the treatment, as it comes with leather and exclusive Alcantara upholstery and trimming with red or white contrast stitching for the seats as well as the dashboard and doors panels. The car’s multi-function AMG Performance steering wheel is also wrapped in Nappa leather and Alcantara.
Pricing for the C-Class the DR 520 Saloon starts from £62,430 and £63,680 for the estate, which is £9,995 above the standard C 63 AMG price, but you get a unique ride which has the potential to become a classic in future!
